The Chase
Alright well I certainly did not expect for Kuchisake-Onna to go on such a rampage, but she is a terror after all. Everyone tumbles into the river, and another terror appears. The “monster” strongly resembles a monkey man, and actually ends up saving Sei’s sister. Whose name I now know is Aneki. We find out the stranger who interrupted the date earlier, is indeed a girl. And that she actually is trying to kill Kuchisake-Onna. To be honest, she is very nonchalant? Like the way she first strolled into the restaurant, I didn’t get “imma kill you” vibes from her? Anyways, the monster hunter girl and monkey guy are in cahoots, and are on a mission to kill Kuchisake-Onna. Who we know is far more dangerous than she actually looks.
The two catch up to the terror, who tells them both that she cannot be die because Sei is now her boyfriend. And they basically need to be together. She then runs away from them. Talk about delusional. Whew. Monkey man catches up to her and Kuchisake-Onna is almost done in, until her “boyfriend” comes to her rescue. After saving her for a brief moment, the terror expresses their love, which confuses the teen. He tells her to run away and mentions how much he hates the occult.
Another Kuchisake-Onna Rampage
Being the delusional creature that she is, Kuchisake-Onna has misinterpreted his words and has become angry again, going on yet another rampage, and destroying everything in sight. Monkey man and monster hunter girl then come to Sei’s rescue, and they cook up a really stupid “plan” to calm Kuchisake-Onna down. Monkey man throws Sei at the terror, and he crashes into her. And then, they end up accidently kissing each other.
This calms Kuchisake-Onna down, and Sei catches a glimpse of her in a different form. She cannot remember that she went on a rampage, or why everything around her is in shambles. Oh yeah, and now Sei is possessed, by Kuchisake-Onna.
Thoughts
This is turning out to be way more funnier than I imagined it would be, but I’m okay with it! Sei has now become Kuchisake-Onna’s “teller,” whatever that means. Are they now stuck together forever? What exactly will be the job description of a teller? I think its quite comical that he hates the occult, and now he’s stuck with a pretty dangerous creature. Wonder how this will impact his everyday life. And will they really fall in love? I can see it turning into that way maybe. Guy who hates supernatural things, ends up falling in love with a supernatural being. I’m calling it now. Also, I wasn’t really sure at first, how the title of this chapter correlated. Mephisto is a familiar of the devil, and a waltz is a type of dance, performed by a couple. So maybe Sei is dancing with…the devil? Could Kuchisake-Onna be that evil? Who knows!
